The main draw of Lookout Mountain is of course soaking in its scenic views. Here you’ll find clear views of the Rocky Mountains, the town of Golden at its base, and even views of Denver in the distance.

While its sweeping landscapes are a sight to see any time of day, it’s especially at sunrise or sunset. This is because the lookout point has both easterly and westerly views. Early risers can drink in views of the sunrise over the town on Golden at the mountain’s base. And at the day’s end, you’ll be treated to stunning views of the sunset over the Rockies.

And make sure you don’t take off as soon as the sun hides behind the horizon. Once the sun sets, you’ll have an amazing view of Golden’s city lights. And as long as you are cautious, we did not find the drive down after dark to be particularly difficult.
